Class Information

With classes that fit all levels of experience, we are the most comprehensive martial arts school in the area. We focus not only on teaching self-defence skills but on self-discipline and respect. In class, you'll build a strong foundation, learn self-defence strategy and techniques, as well as develop a greater sense of confidence and self-awareness.

We provide each student with a safe, nurturing & supportive environment in which to learn. Our instructors strive to instill confidence and a healthy self-image to promote the highest quality of martial arts training.

Our classes

Whether you're a newcomer to Ju-jitsu or have been practising for a while, this class has something to offer for everyone.

Our sessions always begin with group warm-up exercises and stretches led by Gareth, followed by practising in pairs. We follow the BJJA syllabus, so each class focuses on one or two techniques from the syllabus.


There is always an opportunity to work directly on the techniques required for your next grading.

Training times 

We train every Tuesday and Thursday at Bishop Challoner Sports Centre in Kings Heath from 8pm-9.30pm. 

We recommend arriving ten minutes before the session begins to allow time to get changed and settle in.

At BCJJC we have two payment plans on offer to our members:

  1. £25 monthly flat fee to be paid at the start of every month in cash, bank transfer, or via direct debit. 

  2. £6 per session. This is particularly useful for members who are not always able to guarantee their attendance. 

*Other potential costs such as the cost of a gi, gradings and insurance are also worth noting.
